Heroes

Posted in Uncategorized on May 20, 2009 by The Jordinator

What comes to mind when you think of a hero? Some people look at their own family but I think one of my greatest influences is a person who I have never met. He goes by many names. Some call him The Suburban Threat, The King of the Blumpkins, but I know him as Asher Paul Roth. He is a little known rapper that me and my friend Ozzie Jaros discovered after his major hit I Love College. In our society most rappers are african american but Asher Roth is full blown caucasian. Unlike the most sterotypical rappers he actually raps about things that matter such as struggles in life, healthy eating, family, and friends. He has been all I listen to and me and my friends are going to try to see him live. That is why he is my hero.

El Tigre

Posted in Uncategorized on May 1, 2009 by The Jordinator

The one animal I would like to see outside of a zoo is a tiger. For starters, they are orange and striped which is AWESOME.  They are the mascot of my third favorite cereal frosted flakes. Also, they are named after the best pump up song Eye of the Tiger. But mostly, I think theyre awesome.

Challenge 8

My shade of color is red. At this time of year the NBA playoffs is what is on my tv. So, after last nights games I decided to share some shades of red. First from the Bulls-Celtics game which was nuts. It took 3 overtimes for the Bulls to force the Celtics to a game 7. The picture below is of Joakim Noah after the win.

Next, two different shades of red faced off in the Rockets-Blazers game. As a Blazer fan I was sad to see them get eliminated but I was also happy that former Oregon guard Aaron Brooks could lead his team to the next round.

Think of the most fun and addicting thing and times that by 100 and your answer: Call of Duty. Why play Call of Duty? For starters, its awesome. Second, all the cool kids play it. Examples: Jordan McCornack,  AUSTIN PARRETT, Ozzie Jaros, Irik Clawson, Chance Hendrickson, Kraig Akins, Kyle Wright, Payton McCalligan, Jared Marshall, Michael Rondeau, to name a few. Third, everyone not cool doesnt have an xbox. Examples: Zach Kopczenski. Its a very fun video game and you can talk to your friends

#7- Slice of Life

We walked into the McDonald’s and immediately everyone’s heads turned to us. The three of us were wearing bright orange tall tee’s freshly bought from Gen-X. “What up foo?” exclaimed Kevin, trying to act thug-like. We ordered our food and sat down. Trying to act like gangsters, we decided to have a rap battle. Kop dropped a funky beat for us while me and Kevin Blair started spittin’ some lines. Kevin won the battle with his mad rhymes such as “Up in the golden arches, eatin’ lots of starches.”  Overall, this was a humorous and delicious experience.

http://odeo.com/episodes/18115773-Hatchet-by-Gary-Paulsen

The podcast of Hatchet grabbed my attention over any other podcasts.  I especially liked it because I had already read the book and I could relate to how the speaker told it.  The acoustic background music was a good and put a picture in my head.  The speaker told the story as Brian very well.  He changed his expression for each of his thoughts.  The way they made sounds for the plane crash added a nice touch.  They also took actual exerpts from the actual writing.  I would like to use this in my podcast.  Overall, this podcast was done well.

#5- Text Messaging

Posted in Uncategorized on October 11, 2008 by The Jordinator

Texting is a great way to keep in contact with all of my friends. It is convienient because I can do other things easier while texting than I could if I were actually talking on the phone with them.  I send around 3,000-4,000 texts a month and I usually text about 5 people nightly or every other night.  I do not think that it has an effect on anyone’s writing.  I know it does not effect mine.  But it does have a place in our society because so many people have it, t.v. channels and other advertisements are using it as a way to sell their product.  You can also now get scores or text google for information.  It has not had an impact on the way I view face to face communication because I am outgoing but I could see how it would change others’ view on face to face communication.  Some people who are on the shy side would probably rather text than have visual contact but not me.
